Kayla Harrell is currently a senior in Guitar Performance at Vanguard University.
Before attending Vangurd, she received the Andrés Segovia Award for Excellence in Guitar Performance for exemplary musical leadership and commitment to the art of classical guitar studies in 2015 and the La Mirada Symphony Blanche Nissim Award for Exceptionally Talented Young Musician in 2016.
During her time at Vanguard, she received the Richard Denner Scholarship issued and organized by the American Guitar Society in 2018 and Honorable mention at the Pacific Guitar Festival in 2019.
She also performed at Carnegie Hall and participated in the Festival of Guitar in Granada, Spain in 2019.
In addition to performing, Kayla loves sharing her passion for music with others through teaching. She has led various guitar and instrumental ensembles and has been a section leader for the past few years at Vanguard.
She has also participated in many other musical activities, including piano, choir, and voice.
Her goal through teaching is to have others enjoy learning music and to be the best musician they can be.
